Valor Elite Camp

July 18^th – 21^st

 

It is crucial to a young player’s development that the training provided is accurate and correct. Anything less is unacceptable. "The Valor Elite Camp’s focus is to support the development of aspiring young players who have the drive, dedication, work ethic and fitness to become an elite player. It is designed for boys and girls who are travel team players ages 9-14. 

Players are encouraged and challenged to achieve their maximum soccer potential. It is at this age ’soccer habits’ are formed. It is essential therefore, that good and not bad habits are taught and developed. Valor Camp Staff has a long-proven track record of providing quality soccer education and training to hundreds of players who were able to achieve success in college, national teams and as professionals. As keen as we are to produce high quality players, we also understand the need to nurture these young players to enjoy the training and have a fun week.

• All coaches will have USSF or UEFA licenses

WHAT TO BRING

• SOCCER BALL!
• Half day campers should also bring two healthy snacks such as fruit and plenty of water!
• Players can bring umbrellas for shade or canopies. (tents for shade will be provided) 
• Players can bring coolers with ice and towels inside to help stay cool.
• Energy and Enthusiasm!! 

 

“The Art of Scoring Goals”

August 8^th - 11^th  

 

The Shooting and Finishing Camp is a unique program that focuses on one of the most exciting aspects of the game: creating chances and the art of finishing. This is not just for forwards; it is for any player on the field who wants to improve their attacking skills.

Small group sessions are set up to challenge individuals in repetitive game situations where attacking players need to excel: long distance shooting, combination play, 1 v 1’s, turning and shooting in the box, crossing and finishing, chipping and lobbing, volleys, attacking heading, playing with your back to goal, and striker movement among many.

As the week progresses, topics turn to individual and small group tactical environments that front players face.

Goalkeeping Camp

August 8^th - 11^th

 

Goalkeeping is a unique position in the game of soccer and requires specialized training to develop the goalkeeping skills, self-confidence and toughness to be the team’s last line of defense and first point of attack. To be effective in the position, goalkeepers need to be well trained technically and tactically to integrate into the team’s defense. The goalkeeper is the leader and communicator. The design of Virginia Valor’s goalkeeper training will develop goalkeepers to be decision makers. The program is designed to be progressive based upon the age, ability and experience of the individual goalkeeper. The Valor Keeper camp is run conjunction and at times integrated with the Shooting and Finishing camp you ensure consistent action and reptation. 

Topics covered throughout the week include:

Fundamentals of Goalkeeping:

• Stance, footwork, ball handling 
• Angles and positioning 
• Shot stopping, catching, diving, and deflecting 
• Ball distribution: throwing and punting 
• 1 v 1 breakaways 
• Crossed balls 

Functional Training:

• Communication 
• Systems of marking 
• Organizing the defense 
• Controlling the box 
• Principles of defense
